Do you have an extra bike laying around?
Go for a bike ride. Not only will you get a great exercise in, you will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery! When I started bike riding I discovered many bike trails that I never even knew existed. It was like venturing out into a new world.
Just to make sure you are safe, take someone with you on the bike ride, or go on popular trails that people usually go on as well.
Do you have an extra jump rope laying around?
If you don't, go to the store. Jump ropes are extremely inexpensive, but if you would like to spend a few extra bucks, try to get a good quality jump rope. This way the jump rope will last longer. Jumping Rope can burn up to 800 calories an hour depending on how hard you jump rope.
Do you have internet access at home?
Use YouTube! I can't even tell you how many times I've used YouTube to do workouts. YouTube has everything from Yoga all the way to Ab Exercises that can really tone up your abs!
I didn't think these 10 minute Ab Workouts would do much to me, but afterward, I could definitely feel the burn in my stomach! (The GOOD type of burn!) If you check out bodybuilding.com they also have the different workout and nutrition plans you can follow, absolutely free! Unbelievable right!
Have a library card?
Go to your local library! I've checked out so many workout DVDs from the library. For free! (Unless I was late of course… Which happened a lot). My local library even had P90X and all of the Biggest Loser Workout DVD'S!
These workouts really kicked my butt and I was in the comfort of my own home. Which is very helpful on a rainy day when I'm not particularly up to driving to the gym to workout. While you're at the library you can also check out workout or nutrition books to learn more about different types of workouts and what kinds of foods you should be eating.
When I was in high school I spent any extra minute in the library, I absolutely LOVE reading!
There are so many different ways you can get your heart rate up. Some people don't have money for a gym membership, or simply just don't like the gym! Which is fine, everyone is different. But that doesn't give you the excuse to not workout!
You can find a way to workout absolutely anywhere, so try not to come up with excuses. The longer you take to start your healthy lifestyle, the longer until you're at your healthy body and mind! Living the healthy lifestyle gets easier by the day.
I read a quote awhile back that said: “Take it one day at a time, it's a lot easier that way.” I stick to the motto to this day and it definitely helps me a lot!

Pintrest!! (That is, of course, if you actually DO the exercises, and not get sucked into pinning pretty/yummy things for hours instead.)

I joined a Tai Chi club. In my community the cost is only $20 per month ($50 for three months). There are sixteen 90-minute sessions per month, and I can attend as many as I want for just the $20! I attend six or eight sessions per month, but I like the flexibility of choosing sessions that fit with my schedule.

I’d never considered jump roping! Time to invest in one. Have you ever used bodyrock.tv? I think that’s the link. I see it around the blogosphere a lot!

In France there is somthing like “La Fédération Française des Sports Populaires” (FFSP) and they organize “marche populaire”. Every village in the area makes something like that once a year. The general idea is that you go there, check-in, pay 2-3EUR (this money is to support local sport clubs, it goes for local parties, generally-you support local community), then you start and just… go. You can walk, you can run, you can decide which route you like: sometimes there is only one distance, i.e.10km, but sometimes you can pick between 5km, 10km or 20km. There are some check points on the way where they put a stamp on your check-in card. The tradition of marche populaire is really big and amazing, people “collect” their km and compete between each other (even in families) who achieved more during all year and when they have a certain amount of km, they receive a special tag you can saw to your jacket (sometimes even medal or trophy) from FFSP. I’m in Poland right now but when I’ll be back in France, I’ll be back to marche populaire with my boyfriend. It’s really inexpensive way to get familiar with neighbourhood, people living there and just keep fit.

Wow that is amazing. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I wonder if there are any places in America that have that. If I ever visit that country (which I better) I’m definitely checking that out. Thank you so much.
You tube can be a huge help! My sister in law used you tube for videos a few years ago and lost a ton of weight. Even just getting outside for a good old fashion walk or run is huge too!

Oh my gosh! I live in St. Louis as well! The weather is horrible. So up and down! I’ve been doing lots of workouts at home, but still managing to make it to the gym.
