Hey, guys! My winter break is coming up and it will be my first long break since I've moved to the Chicago ‘burbs.
I'm pretty excited, to say the least. I have about a month off and I plan on doing lots of cleaning/organizing along with coming up with new goals for next month!
Since I'm going to have a whole month off, I plan on doing more than just working the entire time. That's what the old me would do, but not anymore! I'm going to make the most out of my time and try to do a little traveling as well.

I plan on volunteering.
I've decided for my winter break, I won't just be working. I plan on volunteering at a couple of places as well. As we all know, the holidays can be a happy time of year for many people, but for some, this can be quite depressing.
I plan on volunteering for some elderly people and keeping them company. I simply type in volunteer opportunities in my city onto Google, and a million things come up.
It feels SO good to volunteer as well as gives you experience. I've volunteered at everything from animal shelters to hospice. I was also in BBBS and was a big sister for a while. I even got into my field and career I'm shooting for from volunteering!
I also plan on volunteering at a food shelter. I've wanted to do this for a LONG FREAKIN' time. I simply enjoy others company and feed them food at the same time in a warm place. I also thoroughly enjoy hearing people speak about their lives. That's my favorite thing about elderly people more specifically, they have so much wisdom and tons of stories to tell. I actually miss working at my old job at a nursing home.
So after all of the volunteering and working, I plan on doing, I also plan on taking a weekend trip somewhere. I'm not exactly sure if I will or if I'll even be able to afford it, but if I do I plan on going couchsurfing again. I'm just afraid of going somewhere and getting snowed in. (I originally planned on going to the New York/Boston area but I think I will pass after all of the snow they are getting).
For some reason, I'm not motivated to go anywhere warm, which makes absolutely no sense because Chicago is freezing cold right now. I also have a problem with bundling up correctly. Maybe that's why I'm sick all the time?
If all else fails, I plan on going to St. Louis for a few days. I would love to spend New Years with my friends in St. Louis… So we will see! Fingers crossed!
