How I Make $10,000 From Blogging

This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission for purchases made through these links, at no cost to you. Please read my disclosure for more info.

I remember the hustle and grind I had to do back when my blog was barely making anything at all. I even almost sold my blog when I got an offer for $15,000.

Last year, I made over $80,000 in my senior year of college (that’s me in my first major feature by Forbes!).

Blogging isn’t easy at all. I thought about quitting several times. It’s not for everyone. I’m so glad I didn’t quit because now I work from home full-time. I create my own schedule, it’s flexible, and I get to see family and friends whenever I want to without having to request off work. It’s amazing. This is why I recommend starting a blog *if* you’re ready to put in the work.

I Had A Self Pity (feel sorry for myself) Mindset

The past few months I have been working on me

I had a toxic mindset that was holding me back and I could tell it was affecting literally everything in my life.

Did you know your mindset could be holding you back not only in your personal life but in your business, too?

I decided to ditch the victim and self-pity mentality.

I see so many people with this problem, especially in the blogging world.

Blogging is a thousand times harder than people think, and only you can control what kind of results you get with your business.

No one else. This mindset had to go.

Every day is spent out planning on what kind of results I expect from my work each day.

Tips To Help You Succeed In Life, Business, and Relationships

1. If you want it bad enough, don’t give up!

If I had given up, you wouldn’t be reading this right now, and I’d be working at a job that I most likely dreaded going to.

Good things don’t come easy. It’s true. But would you want it to come easy?

It feels so good to be rewarded at the end of a hard journey with something you did that created kickass results.

2. Work on YOU

The most powerful thing you can do for yourself is to work on your mindset.

We learn about history, math, social studies, and other subjects in school, but we never talk about personal development.

Personal development is just as important as all of the other topics because a positive mindset can change your life.

3. Establish a support team

Creating this online business wasn’t easy.

When I felt like giving up, I reached out to my sister often because she’s a blogger, too, and she understands this business.

If you’re in the blogging community, I highly recommend finding like-minded people that are bloggers.

People who don’t blog will have no idea what you’re going through.

There are tons of blogging groups which are support and/or networking groups on Facebook.

I recommend the private course you get when you purchase Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.

I’m in 10+ blogging groups, and this is the only group I visit daily to get feedback and learn from others as well.

There’s also one day out of the week where you can ask a 7 figure blogger blogging questions. (Which is probably worth hundreds of dollars a month, but is at no added cost).

4. Find hobbies that bring you joy and happiness

For your sanity, you need to find hobbies and activities that bring joy to you.

If you have no hobbies besides drinking and partying, I encourage you to try out something you’ve never done before.

Rent a bike, go on a hike, try indoor climbing, take a knitting or craft class, or even learn how to cook.

My go-to hobbies are road and mountain biking, rock climbing, and hiking.

5. Learn to love failure

Failure means you’re trying.

And every time you fail at something, you can learn from your mistakes.

I recommend writing down in a bullet journal all of your failures and what you have learned from them.

You may be surprised to see how much good failure does.

6. Spend less time on social media

Scrolling through Instagram and Facebook can suck the day away.

Not only that, you’re seeing the best of everyone else’s life, which can actually make you feel down when life seems rough.

Instead of wasting time on social media, dedicate 10 minutes per day to checking on your friends.

And instead of going to bed scrolling through Instagram, fall asleep to a podcast of your choice.

I enjoy listening to books or podcasts before bed.

Conclusion: Start a blog that makes money

If your dream is to become a full-time blogger and start a blog, I recommend starting a blog with Bluehost.

I started this blog in college and graduated my senior year making $80,000 a year. Now, I work from home, spend time with my family and dogs, and I get to take my family on nice trips and donate to my favorite charities.

If you need a little more help starting your blog, I even have a free How To Start A Successful Blog quick 5-day course that shows you step-by-step what to do AFTER you started your blog. This quick course is filled with a TON of value giving you everything you need to get started the best way.

Great article with tons of good advice.
I started blogging about 6 months ago and am now starting to get half-decent organic traffic.
Just wanted to say to all noobie bloggers to keep going….Google will give you the traffic eventually…just keep posting good content and it will work out!
Looking forward to your next article:-)
