Today, I have an incredibly unique and exciting blogging & work from home opportunity for those of you interested in this niche.
Out of all of the work from home opportunities I’ve talked about on my blog, I think this one is by far my favorite. It’s SO different than what anyone else is doing out there, which means there’s a lot of opportunities available in this area.
Below is Jenn Leach sharing her incredible story of her flipping blogs! Enjoy.
Are you interested in earning a full-time side hustle working part-time?
In 2017 I made over $30K with just a few hours per week and I did it flipping blogs!
Yes, blog flipping is a thing. Read on to learn more about blog flipping including how to get started, how much you can make, and best practices to rock it in 2018!
What’s Blog Flipping All About?
Blog flipping means you build or buy a blog, fix it up, then flip it for a profit. Similar to other things you might flip like:
- House flipping
- Car flipping
- Flea market or thrift store flipping
Blog flipping works much in the same way. You’ll love blog flipping because it’s easy, it’s fun, you make your own rules and it’s a lucrative business.
How Did I Start?
About 5 years ago I was working a job I was unhappy in. Ok, let’s be real, I hated it. I worked in corporate America and I was chained to my desk 8 to 12 hours per day for 7 long years. The company was great with awesome benefits. I made a decent wage and while working there I was afforded the opportunity to buy my first car and my first home on my own.
What Didn’t I Like?
The job was super structured and I was micromanaged constantly. Stressing about taking a 22-minute break instead of a 20-minute break, asking for time off for doctors appointments and pressured to work overtime are just some of the headaches I endured working there.
I wanted to be an entrepreneur, a dream I had since I was a child. So, for 6 months I tried just about everything (almost). I sold used electronics, I completed surveys (there’s money in this by the way), I wrote articles for Krazy Coupon Lady, eHow, and other sites, I sold Twitter fan packages, etc.
I was pretty desperate to find “ the next best thing” to help me earn as much as I was making in my full-time job.
Something finally clicked!
I started an online store as a hobby and made $25 in the first week. I was thrilled! Fast forward a year later, I was making the same amount as my full-time job so, I quit! Yes!
A few years later I ended up selling that store at a nice profit and I went into blogging. Fast forward 18 months and 6 more sites later, I find myself building and flipping blogs and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
How to Get Started Blog Flipping
I follow the same 4 step process over and over again. I’ve had a 100% success rate flipping blogs. Here’s what I do:
Step 1.) Niche selection
I pick my blog’s topic. Some examples: nutrition, fitness, mental health, fashion, etc.
Step 2.) Domain + hosting
I pick a blog name, domain name, and get hosting.
Step 3.) Add content
I turn this blank canvas into a fully functioning blog. I use the same handful of plugins on every single site. I use 1-3 themes that are favorites of mine. I add at least 8 awesome articles and promote them. Then, I monetize the site.
Step 4.) SOLD!
One to six months later, I sell the site at a profit! I’ve done this 7 times guys!
Is it really lucrative?
Yes! I’ve made over $30K in 2017 and over $100K lifetime earnings flipping websites. I work part-time, make my own hours, and put passion and hard work into each site I develop. The sales process has had some awesome rewards too including some amazing freelance income opportunities, making friends, and networking.
How Much Can You Make?
That’s entirely up to you! I’ve sold sites for $200 and I’ve sold sites for $80K! It’s based on a number of factors including age of site, popularity, traffic, income-producing ability and more.
Here are some best practices I recommend:
- Pick a lucrative niche
- Monetize your blog
- Grow it by doing something every single day
- Don’t ignore social media
- Paid ads aren’t necessary but can give you a boost. Don’t be afraid to experiment
- Work at your own pace
- Have fun!
How to Flip Blogs in 2018
I’m still at it! In 2018 I will be flipping 4 blogs, 1 per quarter and taking along a handful of students with me! In Website Flippers University, over a course of 3 months, you’ll sit alongside me as I teach you through video and lecture how to build, grow, monetize, and flip blogs!
I’ll be helping you pick a niche. You’ll see my list of top-secret lucrative niches that have done AMAZING for me and are great for quick growth and monetization. You’ll be picking your blog’s name, getting your domain and hosting!
Then comes set up, where we will add plugins, make it pretty (add a theme), set up social media accounts and more.
Month 2 is the month for adding content. We will aim to add at least 8 pieces of high-quality content to the blog. These will be fully built out, optimized articles ready to bring traffic and income to your blog. And then, you’ll promote and start making money.
SOLD! Three months is the recommended timeframe for selling. Younger than 3 months can work but it can be more difficult to prove the site value, which can result in a lower sales price.
Greater than 3 months is amazing and actually the longer you hold onto your site, the better. But holding off on the flip does mean you’ll have to wait on your payoff when it sells. In the meantime though, you’ll still be earning income monthly and continue to have the opportunity to grow the blog.
You can sell whenever you’d like but I will be selling in month 3 and take you through my process for a successful sale!
Start over! I’ll be doing a new blog every 3 months for a total of 4 blogs in 2018. You’ll have the opportunity to join me!
Exciting stuff, right?
I’ve written ebooks, I’ve written guides, I’ve built sites for others. Now, I’ll be working alongside students to help them do it for themselves, blog flipping!
We start January 1, 2018! You can join here today with Alexis’ special discount ALEXISOFF to grab $20 off the monthly membership.
Alexis here. What do you all think about this? After hearing Jenn’s story, this is something that I’ve grown to become interested in myself. Flipping shows on TV were always my favorite to watch because these people are able to find treasure in so many things that were once seen as garbage. I love seeing people restore items, especially websites!
