A home isn’t a home without furniture, so how does one get around buying furniture without spending thousands of dollars?

From shopping online, getting free shipping, and using cash back apps, you can save a good chunk of change just by doing these three things alone.

1. Shop online

Shopping around online for furniture is a really smart idea when you think about it.

Furniture stores can be overwhelming, and there is often the pressure of having to buy something with a salesman on commission around.

Shopping online can also help you compare items easily, filter out pieces of furniture by price, style, color, and more.

2. No need for expensive name brands

People are shying away from name brand food and moving towards generic, and there’s a good reason for that. Studies have shown that name brand food, and generic is the same, yet you’re paying a higher percentage of money for a name brand.

So why are we doing that with furniture?

Brands like DHP Furniture have tons of trendy and high-quality designs to choose from that will make your home your style without having to spend a bunch of money.

3. Make sure you get free shipping

When shopping online and buying furniture, you (usually) should always get free shipping, especially since furniture is a bigger purchase than most.

Stores like Walmart offer free shipping over a certain amount spent, and most stores even have free store pickup, so you could potentially pick up your product on the same day of ordering it online.

Tip: Do you know your credit score? Get your free credit score here (and no it doesn’t hurt your credit score!). You’ll also learn strategies to improve your credit score. A high credit score will save you money when you purchase a car, rent or purchase a house, take out a loan, or when you apply for a credit card.

4. Cashback apps

Did you know you can get cash back by shopping online?

Ebates is an online cash back store that gives you cash back for shopping.

Stores like Amazon and Walmart are often if not always on Ebates, and. you can get up to 10% cash back on your purchase depending on what you buy.

Ebates even has a free browser extension that automatically applies the best coupons to your purchases and activates cash back. There are so many times I forget to use Ebates when I’m online shopping – so the Ebates button reminds me every time I go online shopping. It’s a must.

5. Opt out of extended warranty

Extended warranties are tricky. You’re never quite sure if it’s a good idea or not, and taking the risk of not getting a warranty seems scary.

However, most brands know that an extended warranty won’t be used. Otherwise, they wouldn’t even sell warranties because they would lose money.

You can get a high-quality mattress with a 15-year limited warranty that is highly reviewed without spending hundreds of dollars.

I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for a while now, and I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality and comfortability of it. My last mattress was well over $1,000, and the comfort is the same for both mattresses.

Tip: $5 Meal Plan is an affordable meal planning service that helps you save money, time, and stress by meal planning. For $5 a month, you get a pre-made weekly meal plan and complete shopping list, and access to a drag and drop meal plan builder. You even get a 14 day free trial by clicking here.

6. Use your credit card

When shopping for bigger purchases like furniture, it’s wise to use your credit card as long as you know you can make it off either immediately or very soon.

Using your credit card with awards on it can give you a certain percentage of cash back depending on what your credit cards rewards are like.

Keep in mind that your credit card is not free money and that you’ll eventually have to pay it off, so spend as if you were handing your hard earned cash over.

7. Figure out what you need

When moving into your new home, spend a little time figuring out the furniture pieces you need. These pieces can include mattresses, bed frames, a living room table, couch, and more.

After figuring out the pieces you need for your new home, think about your style and colors you prefer to see in your home. Do you prefer bright colors to dark? Make sure you get the furniture to match your style.
