I. Can. Not. Believe. It.
I made my way to South America (Peru more specifically) on Thursday, May 14th. I had a 3-hour layover in Dallas, TX, as well as a 5-hour layover in Lima, Peru.
A week before my departure date, the nerves starting to set in. I began to ask myself what I was getting myself into, and how I was potentially putting myself in a dangerous situation by moving to a country that has some dangerous areas or is close to potentially dangerous areas.
There were days when my anxiety would shoot through the roof. I kept asking myself if I was prepared enough and if I would be physically and emotionally ready for this trip abroad. It would be my first trip abroad and I would also be going solo…. Read more
I recently decided to start a new piece for my blog regarding my traveling.
Traveling has become a huge part of my life now and I want to be able to remember these travels as best as possible. Many of my memories of travels have already become a little foggy, so why not create a post so that I can look back on them in the future?
I traveled to St. Thomas with my sister in the month of May back in 2013. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort. This was the first vacation I took in a long time and it felt great to go somewhere tropical and amazingly beautiful. I prepared myself by looking at photos online and browsing around on Pinterest, and I couldn’t wait any longer to get on the plane to go.
Budget Tip: We had to take a connecting flight from our hometown to Miami first, but I didn’t mind since we actually save money doing so.
Connecting flights actually make the flight cost less, so don’t get bothered at all when you have to do so.
My dad’s anniversary of his passing was April 18, and it got me to think about a lot of things. I have been trying to find ways to celebrate or honor his life. If you have any advice or know of other ways I can celebrate his life, let me know.
I feel like I don’t think about him as much as I should and it truly bothers me, which is why I was inspired to write this post…. Read more

I’m sure you’re thinking, “Jeez Alexis, you sure move a lot!”
Yeah, I can totally admit that I do. I might even have a problem with being indecisive when it comes to certain things, but I can admit it.
After a little less than a year of living in the suburbs of Chicago, I decided to take off and move in with my sister and brother-in-law in their new home in western Colorado. This decision came pretty easy to me, as a number of factors motivated me to do so.
Why I decided to leave Chicago:
1. I was not living in the actual city of Chicago, which I should’ve done originally…but if I would’ve done that, my bills might’ve been about 2x-3x more than living in the suburbs.
I have become motivated to write more about my travels and how to save money when doing so. I am soon departing for my South America trip and I’ve been doing tons of research on traveling on a tight budget…. Read more
