March, 2018 is in less than 1 month. Where is the time going?!
As per usual, stores are already ahead of the game and are pushing out products for the next season, which means last season's products are going on sale.
March is filled with tons of savings ranging from travel-related expenses all the way to electronics.
Before I buy anything, especially big ticket items, I make sure to check when is the best month to buy the product.
I'm not trying to persuade any of you to buy these items, but if you've been needing one of the items I listed, March will be a great month to get a good quality item for a great price.
Most of the items pushed around the holiday season will be going into a huge discount mode.
If you are thinking of buying any of the below items, I'd wait until mid-March to do your shopping. If you have any other savings tips that I didn't mention in the post, please leave a comment. I love how active the comments section has been lately!
1. Frozen Foods
March is known as Frozen Food month, which means that stores will be pushing out frozen foods much heavier than they do the other months of the year. If you have room in your freezer or carry an extra fridge, I encourage stocking up as frozen food can last a long time.
Frozen fruit and vegetables are generally much cheaper than fresh foods and carry just as many nutrients.
Use Ibotta to save money on groceries (even fruits and veggies!). This app is great if you're trying to eat healthier. You can also save money on a bunch of other products such as toiletries, clothing, services, and more! Get $10 for signing up here.
2. Video Games
Most big name video games come out during the holiday season so they can be bought as gifts for Christmas, which means video games will start going on sale in March.
Anything video game related will most likely be discounted, giving you the best price for the entire year (besides Black Friday, of course).
3. Season Produce:
On FITnancials, I talk all about healthy living, so it's only fitting if I list what produce is in season.
- avocados (yes!)
- brussel sprouts
4. Winter Sports Equipment
The best deals for winter sports equipment will be right after February, as the weather is getting warmer.
Many stores will have crazy deals in order to get rid of their inventory, so check online and at sports stores. This is also a great time to take a vacation to a snowy area, as their season is most likely ending soon.
March is National Reading Month, which means retailers will be pushing books out on special discounts. This is also a good month to sell your books at stores that buy books (here in Austin, we have Half-Priced Books), as a lot of books (should!) be purchased.
Consumers will find the best-priced luggage during March, and April, too. This is the best time as we are in between seasons and summer is creeping in.
As summer approaches, so do special travel deals, so make sure to check Groupon and other travel-related saving websites.
7. Anything Valentine's Day Related
Drug stores like Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy will have the best discounts, marked up to 75% off to clear out their shelves for the next holiday.
8. Exercise Equipment
As New Year resolutions decrease and the weather outside gets warmer, exercise equipment go on sale. More people are running on trails and taking their workout outside. Exercise equipment, including DVDs and accessories, will go on sale.
9. Athletic Shoes
Since the weather is beginning to warm up, retailers will be pushing athletic shoes since most people are transitioning back into getting their workout outside.
Most smartphone retailers are about to release their newest models, which makes March a great month for upgrading your phone.
Candles go on discount due to winter scents being pushed off shelves to allow room for spring scents. Goodbye cinnamon, hello fresh cut flowers!
Ebates is an awesome way to save money on products and services. All you do is log on to Ebates, find the store you're shopping at, and you'll get cash back on products you already buy. Get $10 in your account for signing up here!
12. Trips to:
Spring break is in March, which means flights and travel can be expensive, which can also heavily rely on when the school district's in your city are on break.
The more people on break, the more people buying flights. Check out these 10 Destinations for a Tight Budget.
- European cities (London, Rome, and tons more)
- Vancouver, BC
Since Valentine's Day is over, jewelry retailers will be offering huge discounts on jewelry. Stores will be offering up to 75% off jewelry.
14. Cleaning Supplies
March is the month of spring cleaning, so retailers will be pushing out special discounts on cleaning-related products.
