Tidbits About Me

This post will be all about little tidbits about me, and some interesting things you might not have known about me.

-I am half Korean. My mom is from Seoul, South Korea. Her side of the family lives in South Korea. I would love to visit someday. I think I might have when I was a baby, but I don’t remember.

-I used to smoke like a chimney. No joke here. I’d average a pack every day or 2 days. The amount of money I wasted on cigarettes bugs me often. But I’m happy because I know I won’t ever start up this habit again, and have saved my body. The smell of a cigarette makes me sick. One day I decided that the habit was disgusting and if I wanted to make my life healthy and fulfilling, cigarettes wouldn’t be involved. I quit cold turkey basically.

-My dad passed away in April of 2008. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and had a brain tumor. He was a big time smoker, which is another reason why I quit smoking. He was very inspirational to me and motivates me everyday even though he is no longer here physically.

-My highest weight was 165+. I’m pretty sure I hit 170 one time after a long trip to a buffet. Can’t remember the last time I’ve been to a buffet. Won’t even put myself in that kind of misery.

-I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I grew up here then moved to Chicago for a few years, and eventually came back. For awhile I hated living here, but the city has really grown on me. St. Louis isn’t as bad as everyone thinks. The high crime rate and low population statistics are the way they are because St. Louis is not in a county (no, St. Louis city is not in St. Louis County), whereas 95% of other large cities are included in the metro area statistics. This then of course throws everything off because of course there would be crime in the actual city area (just like with everywhere else), and in St. Louis most people live in the metro area – not in the actual city.

-I lived in Chicago, Illinois for a few years back in elementary school. Chicago is such a beautiful city, I urge you to visit if you can. So many places to visit and experience. Sometimes I think about moving back, but I’m starting to love the city I live in.

-Before getting into fitness, I wanted to become a Registered Nurse. I went to a tech school to gain a certification in this area. While attending this tech school I was working at a nursing home and volunteering at a new facility that took care of people with developmental disabilities. After awhile I realized that this field wasn’t for me and couldn’t manage the stress of seeing people die and get so sick. Whatever path I chose, I know I wanted it to have to do with helping other people and making the best out of their lives. That is why I chose the path of Personal Training/Nutrition Specialist. So by the time they do cross paths to choose to live in nursing home, they will be as healthy as possible.

-I am only 19 years old. People always ask me how I started this lifestyle and stay so motivated at such a young age. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, living this way makes me the happiest I could be.

-I love fashion. I’m always on Pinterest or Wanelo looking at fashion ideas. One of my new years resolutions this year was to dress more out of the box than I usually would. To take risks on outfits and wear anything I want to wear. I’m also a huge fan of makeup and watch youtube tutorials everyday on new makeup.

-I love SKA, Indie, Acoustic, Hard rock, Soft Rock, Punk, Classic Rock, and Country music. Some of my favorite bands include Slightly Stoopid, 311, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blink182, Incubus, Of Monsters and Men, and many more.

- I love reading. The library is like a clothing store to me. I get so excited when I see new items. Plus everything is free.

-I volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters. This is an organization where you can have a little brother/sister and take them out to places or teach them new things. Growing up in downtown St. Louis can have a bad influence on kids, so that is why I love volunteering at BBBS.

What are some fun little tidbits about you that people don’t know about?

  1. It’s great to learn more about the person behind the blog :) I admire you for volunteering for BBBS. I wish my small town had something like this because kids really need the influence this day in time. Ah, and I long to visit Chicago again one day!

  2. Thanks for the tidbits! It’s nice to learn more about you…we have a lot in common. I used to work with BBBS, we both have jobs that help people feel healthier (I am a nurse), and we have similar taste in music :) I have enjoyed reading your blog! Keep it up :)
