The path to a healthy lifestyle is a hard way when you are the only one rooting for you, and that’s exactly how it was for me in the beginning. I’ve definitely made a lot of bad and unhealthy mistakes!
Here I will show you what I think the fundamentals of healthy living are and how you can achieve your goals and get to where you want to be.
Tip #1 Drink lots and lots of water!
This is a given, and if you don’t know this by now then you must live in a box. Water not only fills you up and prevents you from over eating, but it does great for your organs and skin. Try your best to drink 2 cups of ice water before each meal. This will keep those extra calories away, and if you’re getting very close to your goal and the weight scale or body fat scale isn’t budging, then not eating those extra calories can be very important.
Tip #2 Eat every food group, protein/carbs/fats.
Don’t eliminate one to lose weight, your body needs all these food groups! Each of them do different things for you and benefit you. If you cut out carbs-of course you’ll lose weight. But the weight loss will only be temporary and you’ll also have way less energy. Plus you can’t cut carbs out forever, get your body healthy the right way and learn how to live a lifestyle that will last forever.
Tip #3 Make your favorite meals into your own healthy entrees.
Learn how to cook, go online and follow blogs and YouTube channels. I used to be a horrible cook, and if anything required more than 10 minutes to make, I would get impatient. Now I’ve learned the longer my meals take, the more I love them. Obviously because I’m putting in more effort to all my meals so they taste better. Which means less of a chance of me over eating the next meal or eating even more during my treat meal.
Tip #4 Find a physical activity that interests you and makes you feel good about yourself.
Don’t go on the treadmill everyday because you think you have to. There are many other ways to get your cardio in. For me, I like doing kickboxing and hiking. I also like taking long bike rides as well. All of these are stress relieving to me. I can punch the crap out of something while kickboxing, and when I am hiking through steep trails I make every high step count slowly but surely getting to the top.
Tip #5 Eat breakfast!
So many people don’t eat breakfast and usually have the excuse of ‘I am never hungry in the morning’ or ‘I want to lose weight so I am going to skip breakfast’. This 1st meal of the day is so crucial to your weight loss. Slowly but surely everyone is realizing how important breakfast is. No matter what, EAT breakfast, because if you wait until lunch time you will be WAY too hungry at this point and you’ll usually eat 200-400 more calories.
These are just some of my tips, but definitely my top tips that I feel are important to getting closer to a healthy lifestyle.
