Financial Goals for 2013

I have a few financial goals for the year of 2013. Some of these include loans I want to have paid off, how much I will be paying each month, and the deadlines for paying them off.

Car Payoff Goal

One of my main goals for 2013 is to pay off my car loan. My car totaled at around $10,000 when I bought it and I had a 5 year payment plan on the car. The plan is for it to be paid off in 1.5 years altogether, which means than I am close. I started out with paying $157 a month and then I upped my monthly payment to $400, as I wanted to get the loan paid off as quick as possible. I did this for a few months and started to get overwhelmed with my bills so I lowered the payment back down to $157.

I also saved up $3000 and put it all towards my car loan. I was getting very close to paying it off. Currently I have about $900 left to payoff. I want to get this paid off in 2-3 months. If I put $200-$300 each month down, I will have it paid by then. Fingers crossed that I can do it.

Fitness Certifications

Another financial goal of mine is to pay off my Personal Fitness/Fitness Nutrition Specialist certifcations. The total cost for these average around $1400. I pay $130 on the 1st of every month. This is my second loan I have and want to get paid off right when I get done paying off my car loan.

I plan to pay this off in 5 months. If I pay roughly $280 a month for 5 months I could get this paid off. I plan to save a big lump of cash and pay off big portions of it at a time. I want to keep my current car for alittle while but plan on buying a new car soon, so having this car loan paid off the sooner, the better. I can feel my car slowly breaking on me…

Savings

Once I get done paying off these 2 loans, I would like to start a backup money account. Ideally I want to have $3000-$5000 saved. For any reason I would need cash, I won’t feel totally stressed for not having money. I plan on saving $400 a month for backup cash. Depending on how much I make by then I might even put down more each month.

What are your financial goals? What loans are you trying to get paid off?

I can’t wait for the day when both of these loans are paid off. Although it’s only a couple loans I like to stay debt-free for as long as I can. Even though once I start school I know I’ll be in the dumps. LOL.
