Okay, I’ll admit I’m only on page 36 of this book, but it’s been more life changing than all of my other top books so far. The mentality I’ve created with this book surpassed by expectations when I was originally recommended this book by a friend.

This book isn’t like most self-help/personal development books. You are constantly on an adventure throughout and realizing so many things about yourself. The amount of power that is within all of us is quite spectacular, yet many of us don’t use it. If you’ve never read a self-help book, this should definitely be your first.

My significant other gave me this book as a gift when I was going through a hard time when I returned from Peru. Immediately after just a few pages, I felt rejuvenated and alive again. Although the Dalai Lama suffered the loss of his country, he still remains one of the happiest people alive.

This Dalai Lama taught me that “the very motion of our life is towards happiness” and how happiness should be our main focus and priority in life. You will learn how to beat anxiety, jealousy, bad moods, and how to ride through the difficult obstacles that life throws at us. Not only does this book speak on behalf of the Buddhism traditions and meditations, the Dalai Lama also speaks in depth on science to prove how certain methods work.

This woman might look quite familiar to you. She had a controversial, yet inspiring photo all across social media back in 2013. It was a before and after photo, revealing the before photo of her being in a bikini competition. Taryn’s after photo was after she popped out a few babies.

This woman talks thoroughly about her hate-love relationship with her body and how she has learned to embrace and love her body, at every single stage it is. I believe we can all benefit from this book, especially if you have problems with confidence and dealing with physical appearance.

This book has been top rated for over 25 years and has remained a best seller because of its simplicity towards proven principles of life.

This edition is an updated version, which means you will get an even better idea of how to solve your problems in your personal and professional life.

5. The Secret by Rhonda Bryne

The secret has been translated into 46 languages for a reason. This book has a basis of positive thinking (such as The Art of Happiness) and can change your entire life based on your way of thinking.

    I am almost finished with “The Slight Edge: Secret to a Successful Life,” by Jeff Olson. Don’t let the fact that “Successful” starts with a dollar sign fool you. It is about being successful in ALL areas of your life, be it health, relationships, and family life as well as finances/job performance.

    His theory of “small positive steps, repeated consistently,” Is so simple, yet so profound. That is what leads to success. And small negative steps lead to failure. These are choices we make every day, multiple times a day, sometimes moment to moment, yet most people choose the negative steps because “it really doesn’t matter what I do, I’m not seeing a difference.” Well no, not initially, but over time, you will. Steady progress in a positive manner brings success. First self-help book I’ve read that explained a concept so clearly and simply.

      I’m currently at the library and about to see if they have that book here. I love his theory of positive thinking and moving towards a better life.

    I’m definitely going to have to check out a few of these. Sounds like a good group of books, and I could always use some uplifting reads. Especially the “stop worrying” book…I need to learn how to do that!

    I love the “Power of Possibility” and have reread it a few times. Rule no. 5 (there are no other rules) is one to remember – Don’t take yourself too seriously – sure take your work seriously but learn to laugh at yourself and the world from time to time.
